Youths of Namara, Kadavu are focusing on their elders' plans to plant more yaqona rather than cultivate marijuana.

The elders in their village have put up plans for their youths to focus on planting 500 yaqona plants and 200 dalo suckers starting from January this year, and they are also planting vegetables for their daily consumption.

Village headman Ratu Wame Raioni says the plan they have discussed is focused on protecting their youths from trading and cultivating marijuana.

He says they are focusing more on planting yaqona for their future investment.

He says with the plans in place, their elders are lucky that the Police have stepped in to provide awareness and highlight the outcome of cultivating marijuana and what it brings.

He says this has helped their youths in many ways and hopes their youths will follow the process and not to be left behind.

The village headman adds the presence of the Fiji Police in their homeland in Kadavu has brought light to many youths, and they wish that those left behind will stop the trade and cultivation of the illegal drug.

Ratu Wame is urging all youths living in Kadavu to follow the process of stopping the marijuana trade and focus on their future.

fijivillage News has sent questions to the Kadavu Provisional Council and are waiting for their response on what are some of their plans regarding this.
