Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says 62 percent of Fiji's population is below the age of 35 and youths are the backbone of any nation’s progress.

While speaking at the Prime Minister's National Youth Awards, Bainimarama says this is an advantage for Fiji if we capitalize on it.

He says this is why they have made the investments that will empower the young people of this country.

He adds the National Youth Awards is their chance to recognise the achievements that youths have produced and that youths are Fiji’s greatest asset.

The Prime Minister says all that investment they have made has helped to create the most talented, qualified, united and innovative Fijian generation ever.

He says if we continue on this path, greater achievements await Fiji.

Bainimarama says now more than ever, we must stay firm in our commitment to unleash this generation’s full potential as innovators, experts, entrepreneurs and leaders.

Receiving the awards from the Prime Minister were Wati Maraiwai Talavutu for the Our Fashion, Arts and Creativity Award, Apakuki Nalawa for the Our Music and Dance Award, Kasmin Khan for the Our Eco-Champion, Kushal Pillay for the Our Digital Innovator Award, Komal Raj for the Our Sports Achiever Award, Anabel Ali for the Our Community Champion Award, Sivendra Micheal for the Inspirational Leadership Award and Sarvesh Chetty for the Our Entrepreneur of the Year and overall Youth of the Year Award.
