A youth group in Nabua are using the available land they have to engage in agricultural activities to assist their families during this pandemic.

The Sotutu Youth Group from Nabua has been working together on the development of a piece of land in Nabua for agriculture purposes.

President Neori Buli says the group consisting of 30 youths, varying from primary and mid-secondary school students to school leavers.

He says some are committed to this idea while others are still under peer pressure, and there have been crop thefts and all other kinds of activities within the area.

Buli says they want more youths in the area to be part of the program so they can feed their families which can also minimize the theft of crops and vegetables that they have planted.

He adds some people in their community have been laid off from their jobs and are without work for weeks and with this programme, they will not only assist their families but others who need assistance.

The President says as a youth group located in the urban area and being in a community that has criminal activities, farming is one solution to tackle the challenges faced by youths.

The Youth Group is thankful to the Ministry of Agriculture for providing seeds as it will supplement the group's existing initiative of crop farming.
