The Year 8 Dux of Bouwaqa Primary School from Dalomo Village in the Yasawas, Vilivo Mualele Momo will be accepted by Ratu Kadavulevu School.

The Ministry of Education confirmed last night that they received concerns on the enrolment status of the Year 9 student.

Permanent Secretary for Education, Selina Kuruleca upon verification of the student’s marks with the Examination and Assessment Unit, has discussed and confirmed with the School Principal of Ratu Kadavulevu School that Vilivo Mualele will be enroled at RKS tomorrow as a boarding student.

The parents of the student have also been informed on the arrangement made with the Principal of RKS and are appreciative of the efforts made by the Ministry.

The Ministry also wishes to advise that Natabua High School Principal and staff have during this social media age of misinformation, continued to behave with integrity and honesty.

It says Natabua is one of the flagship Government schools and with the Principal's leadership, has continued to exercise fairness and justice in its processes.

The Ministry says Natabua has reached its enrolment quota for the year 2024 and at this stage given the student’s verified marks, is unable to allocate a place for the student. The Permanent Secretary also advises parents and guardians to contact the Ministry of Education to verify information and eligibility for enrolment in Government and Non Government schools.

Kuruleca wishes Vilivo Mualele Momo all the best in his studies as he begins his new journey at a secondary school.

Questions were earlier raised by Momo's father on why his son had not been accepted by Natabua High School despite applying last year.

fijivillage News pursued this matter after we were approached by many concerned citizens who were alleging double standards and favouritism.

Momo travelled from his village in Yasawa, waited for 3 weeks in Lautoka, and got rejected by Natabua High School.

His father, Taione Mualele said he was in tears when he received the news that his son could not attend Natabua High School as it would have been ideal for them as it is also a boarding school.

He says his heart is heavy because this is how maritime schools are treated in such spaces.

Mualele said eight years of moulding their child to attend Natabua had been overlooked and he demanded answers from the school and the Ministry of Education.
