The Ministry of Education confirms that they acted swiftly to mitigate any potential issues arising from the leak of the Year 12 Maths paper, preparing a new paper and distributing it to all secondary schools in time for exams today.
The Ministry says it came to light on Friday that the Maths paper had been leaked by an employee of the printing company to a student who subsequently shared the paper with his friends.
The matter is currently with Police and they are taking the necessary steps to ensure that the culprit is brought to justice.
Minister for Education, Premila Kumar has expressed her disappointment with those involved and said the Ministry would be taking steps to prevent such cases in the future.
Kumar says it is very unfortunate that the employee from the printing company was involved in the leakage of the paper, and it clearly shows how people can act very irresponsibly.
She confirms that all schools used the new exam paper today and the exams ran smoothly.
The Ministry also urges the general public to refrain from any unnecessary speculation that will only add to the anxiety and apprehension that students may have due to this unfortunate incident.
