The organisers of the 3rd Fiji Bitter Yalovata 7s tournament are looking forward to building on from where they left off from the previous two tournaments in Ovalau by setting the standards higher this year.

Yalovata 7s Vice President Meli Volau says they have learnt a lot from the past two tournaments, and this year they want to take it to the next level.

Volau says during the first Fiji Bitter Yalovata 7s 2 years ago, Paradise Beverages Fiji official Joe Rodan mentioned that it was the best local 7s tournament he has been to so far and they will want to maintain that again this year.

He says this year’s tournament is different from the previous two in terms of teams that showed their interest and also having the Fiji Babas side participating in this tournament really shows the growth.

Volau says they were expecting to have 30 teams in the Men’s category but they did not reach the target as only 26 teams managed to register due to a few more 7s tournaments coming up next week and some of these teams are focused on those tournaments.

He says this did not dampen their spirits as they worked towards organising another best tournament.

Volau says expectations are high as well from fans in the Lomaiviti province for this three-day tournament and they can’t wait to watch top teams and also top players make their appearance.

The Fiji Bitter Yalovata 7s tournament will be held from tomorrow till Saturday at Nasau Park in Levuka.
