The Women’s Fund Fiji has committed around $16 million in the last 5 years to build the capacity of women’s groups, organisations and networks in Fiji and expand their work on gender justice and human rights.

The Fund celebrated its first birthday yesterday as an independent entity.

Since 2018, they have reached 34,839 people which includes 21,109 women and girls, 12,867 men and boys, 641 people with disabilities and 222 gender nonconforming people.

The Pioneering Fund Manager, Michelle Reddy says the Fund’s transition to an independent entity has been an exciting journey.

Reddy says the transition to an independent entity took a long time.

Women’s Fund Fiji Executive Director, Menka Goundan says they are excited for the many milestones that is in their strategic plan for the coming years.

Goundan says as they begin assessing their first set of grants as an independent entity, they are proud to say that many grassroots and community women’s groups, networks and organisations have applied and are being assessed for potential grants.
