Women in Business labels attack on Vuniwaqa as disgusting

Women in Business says the front page article on the Fiji Sun relating to the resignation of Mereseini Vuniwaqa is extremely disgusting and detrimental to women’s progress in Fiji.

The Board of Women in Business adds this deserves nothing but condemnation.

It has also questioned the news worthy nature of such reporting.

It further says Vuniwaqa resigned respectfully and she should be granted her respect and privacy which is her right.

The Board of Women in Business further says all choices made by Vuniwaqa and every woman in life, be it professional or personal, are theirs by right, similar to any other human being.

It adds not only is this an attack on a female leader but it is also an attack on all aspiring women leaders and their right to privacy and that will be regressive for the country.

The Board of Women in Business stresses that this is 2021 and we, together with the rest of the world, must advance efforts to increase women’s leadership and not destroy efforts being made by organisations such as them by condoning the mindset of the cave men and a backward society.
