The Acting Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu says Police officers should take a lead role in complying with the health measures in place and they will continue to arrest those breaching restrictions including Police officers.

He says the latest revelation by the Permanent Secretary for Health that some of the recently confirmed positive cases did not observe proper measures to prevent the spread of COVID is a real concern.

Tudravu says the increasing number of confirmed cases and the number of Fijians arrested for breaching restrictions clearly shows that many are still refusing to acknowledge the difficult situation we are in as a nation.

He adds people need to ask themselves if a drinking party or grog session with people from outside their bubble is worth prolonging the current situation we are in.

Tudravu adds this is upsetting because the selfish act of a few are impacting national efforts, and he is again requesting all Fijians to bear and comply with the measures announced.

The Acting Police Commissioner says people should be concentrating now on beating the COVID-19 virus rather than focusing on what could and should have been done.

He says the success of the Government efforts is largely dependent on everyone's cooperation and people should change their attitudes and take health measures and restrictions seriously.

Tudravu further says as a nation we have rallied together in the most difficult of times and have overcome many adversaries and beating this virus will be no different if everyone is willing to help by playing their part.
