We need to end silence against domestic violence – SP Davu

As the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence conclude today, Deputy Divisional Police Commander Eastern, Superintendent of Police, Uraia Davu is calling on everyone to take a stand and break the silence surrounding violence.

SP Davu says because of silence many women have suffered in the past and reminded that a home should be a safe place but that is usually not the case.

He says many homes are filled with pain, fear and silence and sometimes it escalates to a life being lost.

He further says the theme ‘Prevention to Justice Ending Violence and Impunity against Women and Girls in All Spaces’ shouldn’t be just another slogan, but it needs action and everyone needs to play their part.

SP Davu is urging people to have the courage to speak up against domestic violence so that it will allow Police to do its work in protecting the victims and ensuring that justice takes its course.
