We need to foster a culture that allows the private sector to flourish without any fear and bottlenecks.

This has been highlighted by the Attorney General Siromi Turaga during FNU Breakfast Session-2nd Productivity talks held at the Grand Pacific Hotel.

He says the government envisions a sustainable and resilient private sector to deliver economic transformation.

Turaga says Fiji needs to further develop its capabilities across all sectors of the economy, become increasingly versatile and build on recent successes.

He says it is most important that the government works in genuine partnership with the private-sector, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to create jobs and raise people’s income levels and living standards.

The Attorney General says to attain this objective, there is a need for a common ground of genuine policy dialogue, access to finance, streamlining regulations and improving the necessary infrastructure.

Turaga says the government is focused on having a dynamic private sector that invests, innovates and creates jobs.

The Attorney General also stressed that if Fiji is to remain competitive in the face of increasing globalisation, then it must become more productive, innovative, competitive and relevant in the global economy.

He further says the Ministry of Employment, FNU and the Asian Productivity Organization have developed a master plan that will improve Fiji’s productivity standard.

He says the productivity master plan is for 20 years and will assist government’s efforts in improving productivity and the standard of living for all Fijians.
