Fijians from all backgrounds come together to celebrate Diwali, upholding the values of compassion, kindness, and unity that have bound us together for generations.

Leader of the Opposition Inia Seruiratu highlighted this in his Diwali message saying as we light our diyas this Diwali, we celebrate not only the Festival of Lights but the spirit of unity that defines our beloved Fiji.

Seruiratu says it symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil—a message that resonates deeply within our diverse, multicultural nation.

He says our history of multiculturalism is a long-standing one, rooted in respect, tolerance, and a shared vision of peace.

The Opposition Leader says just as Diwali inspires us with the power of light and goodness, we too can embody these values every day by reaching out to our neighbors, supporting each other, and striving for a community where all can thrive.

He says when we make space in our lives for understanding and empathy, we honor the essence of Diwali in its truest form.

Seruiratu says let us remember that Diwali is more than just a celebration; it is a call to action to renew our commitment to integrity, selflessness, and service to others.

He says as we share sweets, decorate our homes, and come together with loved ones, may we carry the festival’s spirit into our daily lives—treating each other with respect, working together for a more just society, and embracing the strengths that come from our unity in diversity.

The Opposition Leader says this Diwali, let us rekindle our faith in a Fiji that values everyone, regardless of background, culture, or belief.

He says may the light of Diwali guide us, inspire us, and remind us that together, there is nothing we cannot achieve.

Seruiratu adds while we celebrate, let us also prioritize safety by being cautious when lighting diyas and fireworks to ensure that this joyous occasion remains free from accidents.

The Opposition Leader wishes each of you and your families a Diwali filled with peace, joy, and blessings.
