The Leader of the National Federation Party Professor Biman Prasad says they are getting tired of asking the Government to change its strategies regarding COVID-19 as people are dying and even arriving to the hospital dead.

Prasad highlighted this during the People's Virtual Conference.

He says the hospitals are overwhelmed and the spread of COVID-19 needs to be controlled.

Prasad says this is a permanent damage to the health system and the economy.

The Leader of SODELPA Viliame Gavoka says we need to go on a lockdown to end this tragedy.

Gavoka says no one has revealed what is the cost of a lockdown and this is where the dialogue needs to happen.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama had earlier said it should be clear that we are not going to get through this pandemic by shutting every Fijian in their homes and shuttering the windows of every business in the country.

Bainimarama adds people’s jobs may never return and Fiji will suffer structural unemployment through the permanent loss of industries and he cannot allow that to happen.

We are awaiting a response from the Fijian Government.
