There are a lot of racist comments and cases of racial discrimination on social media according to the Citizens Constitutional Forum’s monitoring programs, and CCF Chief Executive Officer, Loucrisha Hussain says they want this to stop.

Hussain says racism is a belief, attitude, or thinking that just because a certain group of people possess certain characteristics, they should be treated inferior or superior.

As they commemorated International Day of Peace with the theme End Racism, Build Peace, CCF celebrated the occasion by hosting a workshop with participants from Wailea, Nanuku and Jittu.

Hussain says some participants have been part of their human rights workshop, so this is an interactive session where participants learnt about how human rights is linked to establishing peace locally.

The CCF CEO says they are pushing for equality, everyone is equal no matter your background, race and ethnicity.

She says we cannot just rely on the Online Safety Commission, as it starts with the little things, in our homes, our communities, and speaking out about hate speech.

Hussain also says if you think someone cannot speak up for themselves then stand up and say something.
