Good news as water supply for thousands of people living along Princes Road, Samabula and Tamavua who have been without water or had low water pressure since Thursday were expected to normalise from last night to this morning.

Water Authority of Fiji Chief Operating Officer Seru Soderberg says the blockage due to continuous heavy rain that resulted in the Savura raw water intake getting flooded and blocked has been cleared.

He says they are currently working on restoring water supply.

A Lovoni Road resident in Tamavua has told fijivillage News that they are frustrated as the Water Authority of Fiji had not even informed them before cutting off the supply.

She says it is very difficult as they have young children to look after too.

The resident also says they have not received water through water carting trucks.

WAF says their intake at the Waimanu Raw Water Pump Station was experiencing heavy silts and wash-off debris contributing to high turbidity that caused blockages to intake pumps, which reduced inflows for water treatment and production at the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant.

The affected areas include Namadi Heights, Princes Road, Samabula area, Bureta Street, Rewa Street, Ratu Sukuna Road, Nailuva Road, Delainavesi, elevated areas in Lami, Panoramic, Waiqanake, Togalevu, Wrong Turn, Sakoca, Upper Khalsa, Tacirua Heights, Nagatugatu residents next to the reservoir, Tamavua Koro, Upper Ragg, Deovji Street, Tacirua Bus, Amputch Street, as well as people living along Princes Road, Seventh Day Church Dokanaisuva to Tacirua Fijian School, Vunuleba Settlement, Naisogo, Colo-i-Suva Crest Chicken, Marshall Road, Taqairua, Vunikawai, Uluibeka, Colanaivau, Valesasa and Naitaqiri Nillgrey.
