While the current wet weather being experienced in the Suva-Nausori corridor has brought with it much-needed relief in terms of water catchment replenishment, and the normalizing of water supply production at both the Waila and Tamavua Water Treatment Plant Systems, Water Authority of Fiji advises people that the prohibition notice will remain in place.

WAF says this is because the Fiji Group is now entering its dry season period from May to October.

They also say due to the prevailing weather condition, areas in the upper Tacirua, Dokanaisuva and Colo-i-Suva areas that were receiving rationed water supply in the morning from 4am to 10am only, are now receiving water for extended periods as well as 5pm to 7pm.

WAF also says they will review the need for lifting the prohibition notice if the situation improves further.

They say they are using the current normalizing of water production to replenish their backup reserves, while also actively looking at accessing additional sources that are available within the Suva-Nausori corridor.

WAF adds exploratory borehole drilling is in progress with assistance from the Mineral Resources Department, which will identify potential additional water sources that can be utilised during dry weather.
