Wallabies to dominate battle upfront to win against Wales

The Wallabies will head into today’s match-up against Wales fully focused on winning the battles up front.

Veteran prop James Slipper says they lost to Wales in the 2019 RWC pool games as they did not match the physicality of the Welsh team at all and that comes off the back of the breakdown.

Slipper says they need to win upfront because if they are not winning up front, they are not winning the breakdown and they are not going to win the game.

He says they were spooked by Fiji and he feels the Wallabies have fixed their weaknesses as they look to keep their World Cup alive with a victory over Wales.

He adds the unbeaten Welsh would have taken notes on how the Fijians dominated at the breakdown to put the Wallabies under pressure, with the scoreboard ticking over through forced penalties.

A loss in Lyon today would see Eddie Jones's men likely bow out of the tournament before the quarter finals for the first time in history.

The Wallabies will take on Wales at 7am

Meanwhile, in a RWC game that was played earlier this morning, Scotland thrashed Tonga 45-17.
