Rainfall in the past few days has resulted in an increase in water production for people living along the Lami-Suva-Nausori corridor however, water restrictions remain in force.

Water Authority of Fiji Chief Operating Officer, Seru Soderberg says it rained over the catchment yesterday, levels at the dam have increased and their teams are currently doing measurements.

He says they are increasing their production to meet the current demand and do restoration work for areas that were affected by the dry period.

Concerns have been raised by many residents living in Lami, Tamavua, Tacirua, Namadi Heights, Makoi, Nakasi, Davuilevu Housing, Koronivia and Nausori since last week about water supply.

Some residents have raised concerns that they have not had water supply for the past two weeks while some say they have been facing water issues for three consecutive weeks.

WAF has however confirmed that water restrictions will remain in force as the dry spell is predicted to continue for the next few weeks.

Water usage for car washing, watering of plants and gardens, irrigation of new turf, topping up of swimming pools and washing of hard surfaces like driveways and footpaths is prohibited during this dry spell.
