The COVID-19 vaccination teams are pushing hard to vaccinate as many people as possible, and they have moved the closure time to 5.30pm for the drive-through vaccination at Albert Park in Suva.

While speaking on the fijivillage Straight Talk with Vijay Narayan, Head of the Vaccination Taskforce, Doctor Rachel Devi says 56% of the target population have received their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine in the country.

The Central Division’s vaccination rate is 57%, and with increasing cases, severe cases and deaths, the vaccination teams are working hard to get more people vaccinated as there is a long way to go for the division.

Doctor Devi says with the vaccination drive-through centre at Albert Park in Suva remaining open until 5.30pm, the Ministry of Health and Police will work together to ensure that people accessing the drive-through site in the afternoon, can go home during the curfew hours, should there be any delay.

Lami resident and well-known business executive, Culden Kamea who took his 82-year-old mum to the drive-through vaccination, says the service is world-class.

Doctor Devi says they are also looking at other drive-through sites in the Central and Western divisions.
