Unpleasant phone call recording with cops about road closures goes viral

Totogo Police Station in Suva

A recorded phone conversation with police officers about the road closures in Suva to Nausori has gone viral on social media as the caller did not get a pleasant response to his questions.

The recording was done by Alipate Vakamocea yesterday morning as he spoke to police officers at the Totogo Police Station Traffic Division.

Here is part of the recording of that phone call.

Vakamocea says the reason he called was to ask police which roads were going to be blocked because side roads were also being blocked during the rehearsal on Sunday evening.

Vakamocea says he uploaded the recording on Facebook to create awareness and to get people to ask questions about why we do things as a country.

Vakamocea says people can interpret the recording themselves.

In response to questions by Fijivillage about how the officers handled that phone call, Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro says they  are addressing this issue as the call should have been handled better, as maintaining a high level of professionalism in their service delivery in all aspects of policing is a focus area for the institution in 2020.

Here is the full audio of the phone call on Monday (24/02/2020)
