Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama.

Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama says unity has brought us this far and as believers, we are confident that God will carry us all the way.

While speaking on the Lalakai posted on the Fijian Government social media page, Bainimarama says this is a long winding journey and along the way, we make mistakes but we learn and move on. He says let us unite and work with government as they chart a new path towards the new normal they are anticipating.

Bainimarama says in the five months from May to September, the border operation at Sawani facilitated a total transaction of around $811,022. He says now that the borders have opened, Naitasiri will also have many opportunities to consider and there will be many business relationships to enhance.

He says yaqona farmers in Lomaiviti will also have many improved opportunities.

Bainimarama says even during the pandemic, they started new business engagements that fetched them good returns.

He also says the recent amendments to the Electoral Registration of Voters Act, the Interpretation Act and the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act is the right regulation to ensure that you are protected.

Bainimarama says as we mark 51 years of our independence, we remember those who have contributed to our beloved Fiji.

He says we remember those who brought the light of the gospel of God to Fiji.

Bainimarama says equally, we recognize the vital contribution of other faiths in Fiji. He says today, religion is an essential pillar of our society.

The Prime Minister also says we remember those who fought in the field of battle to fulfill what the late Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna said Fiji would only be known in the world when its blood is shed.

Bainimarama says Fiji’s first Prime Minister, the late Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara, once said that Fiji’s economy was built on the sweat of our Indian cane farmers. He says today, we all stand united as proud Fijians.

The Prime Minister says we remember our nation builders who fought hard to secure our independence and we remember those who have contributed to Fiji’s development and growth from independence to today.

He says today the Fiji that we have built is all about you and you inspire them on a day-to-day basis.
