New appointments and changes have taken place in the senior hierarchy of the Fiji Police Force in a bid to maintain the momentum of operations.

Acting Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu has appointed Itendra Nair as the Acting Deputy Commissioner.

Nair previously held the Chief of Administration Officers Post.

Former Director Corporate Services Juki Chew Fong has been appointed the Acting Chief Administration Officer.

Other appointments made at the Assistant Commissioner level include the confirmation of Abdul Khan as Chief Operations Officer and the appointment of Assistant Commissioner of Police Isei Vueti as the Chief of Policy and Projects.

ACP Biu Matavou remains Chief of Intelligence, Investigation and Prosecution.

The Chief of Planning and Internal Affairs Officer will continue to be ACP Luke Navela.

Tudravu says the Commissioner of Police has set a solid foundation for them to continue the momentum of operations in line with his intent of improving service delivery.

He says the focus is to get back to basics and improve their internal processes so that they are able to effectively serve the people of Fiji.

Tudravu says improving internal processes and procedures should result in improving service delivery.

The Acting Police Commissioner says concerns and frustrations raised by members of the public when they complain about lack of feedback, late or non-attendance to complaints, the conduct of Police officers, lack of transport are all linked to human factors and that’s what they need to focus on.

Tudravu adds the government has been supportive of their needs for resources, and that is why they need to address the human factors of services.

He says they will treat complaints against Police and against services seriously and officers will be put through their internal disciplinary processes if they fail to conduct their duties effectively.
