Water levels are now dropping to critical levels at some reservoirs and as a result thousands of people in Suva, Toorak, Laucala Bay, Tamavua, Samabula, Sawani and parts of Nasinu will experience low pressure to no water supply from now, until further notice.

The Water Authority of Fiji says water levels at the Flagstaff and Nagatugatu reservoirs are dropping to critical levels and this will affect water supply to the Tacirua, Dokanaisuva and Colo-i-Suva reservoirs.

Affected areas include Ratu Sukuna Road, Queen Elizabeth Drive, Muanikau Road, Laucala Bay Road, McGregor Road, Domain Road, Victoria Parade from Sukuna Park to Nasese, Amy Street, Johnson Street, Spring street, High Street, Stewart Street, Brown Street, Wrong Turn, Sakoca, Upper Khalsa, Tacirua Heights, Nagatugatu, Tamavua Koro, Upper Ragg, Deovji Street, Tacirua Bus, Amputch Street, Princess Road, Seventh Day Church Dokanaisuva to Tacirua Primary School, Vunuleba Settlement, Naisogo, Colo-i-Suva Crest Chicken, Princess Road, Marshall Road, Taqairua, Vunikawai, Uluibeka, Colanaivau, Valesasa, Naitaqiri and Neelgiri.

WAF says people in these areas should store sufficient amounts of water to last them for at least 2 to 3 days.

It said on Wednesday that water supply production at their Tamavua Water Treatment Plant has been impacted due to high turbidity or dirt in the water experienced by the Waimanu River earlier this week.

Meanwhile, thousands of people in Lautoka City, Namoli Ragg Street, Lautoka Hospital, Simla, Vomo/Dravuni, Sandalwood, Razak Rifle Range, Link Road and Kaunitoni will face temporary water disruption as WAF technicians will be carrying out repair works to a burst main.

It says water carting trucks are on standby to service the areas for any urgent requests and can be contacted through 5777.
