People march to Albert Park for the Fiji Day Parade

Albert Park in Suva was covered in a sea of blue and white as thousands of Fijians showed their true Fijian spirit turning up to celebrate the 53rd Independence Day of our country.

The celebration started with a march from the Flea Market as the Fiji Police Force Marching band led the crowd through the city of Suva to Albert Park.

Civil servants, students from various schools around the Suva and Nausori corridor, the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team and our South Pacific Games athletes also joined the march through the capital city.

The Republic of Fiji Military Forces performed the Trooping of Colors Parade at Albert Park and was observed by the President, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere which was followed by a 21-gun salute and the singing of the National Anthem.

Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka was also present during the celebration along with the Cabinet Ministers and other diplomatic corps.

The 53rd Fiji Day celebration was also held at the Natabua Golden Age home and Churchill Park in Lautoka, Subrail Park in Labasa and Levuka.
