The launch of a strategic partnership between Vertiv and VirtualFlex will prepare the industry for something greater in providing cutting-edge IT products, cloud-based solutions and Internet services.

Minister for Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport Faiyaz Koya made these comments during the launch of Vertiv and VirtualFlex.

Koya says the partnership will be relevant to the industry members in acquiring high-end architectural virtualisation, storage and end-user computing solutions in changing the way we think and in doing business.

He says the Fijian Government has invested in the ICT sector because going digital is no longer an option but is a default and the government will continue to provide internet connectivity to unconnected Fijians through the connectivity rollout programme which will focus efforts towards a technology-driven future.

Koya says the 2022/23 national budget provides duty exemptions and tax holidays for investments in infrastructure that supports the ICT/Business process outsourcing sector, such as contact and data centres as this opens an opportunity to cultivate an environment that supports and encourages ongoing learning, development for ordinary Fijians that have the passion to be employed in the IT field.

He says the Fijian Government is committed to improving the quality and efficiency of service delivery through reforms, including better connectivity and accessibility to technology.
