The President of Women in Business, Nur Bano Ali says the greatest hindrance for women are themselves and this is attributed mainly to bias societal norms.

Ali highlighted this while speaking in the Ministry of Education’s Women in Leadership forum where women shared their journey and the barriers they had to overcome in order to break bias and achieve success.

She says there is a need for women to continuously support other women.

Ali says it is the first time for such an important event to be organized by the Ministry for Education which emphasized on women teachers and understanding how important they are in shaping the future.

She adds there is a need for more forums that serve to empower women.

A participant of the forum, the Acting Head of Department for Languages at Adi Cokabau School, Shaista Gani says women just need to reach out for possibilities and break the barriers that they place around themselves.

Gani says the discussions in the forum were insightful, motivational and showed that opportunities are just within womens’ reach.
