The RFMF Commander Major-General Ro Jone Kalouniwai commended the Territorial Force Brigade leadership and personnel for the exceptional execution of the 6th and 8th FIR Battalion Annual Camp Exercise held in Nasinu.

While speaking at the closing ceremony, Major General Kalouniwai said this exercise was not merely a test of their operational effectiveness but a validation of their commitment to excellence, professionalism, and mission readiness.

He says it reaffirms their alignment with the RFMF Strategic Plan 2022-2027 and strengthens the enabling conditions for future success.

The Commander highlighted that the TF Brigade Annual Exercise has demonstrated the ability of RFMF personnel to adapt, innovate, and execute with precision in an evolving security environment.

He says the training also set the stage for the RFMF Force Exercise in the third quarter of 2026, ensuring a progressive approach to force development and preparedness.

He adds that the unwavering dedication of the TF Brigade leadership and personnel has set a benchmark for operational preparedness.

He further adds that their ability to integrate complex training objectives ensures that they remain agile, competent, and mission-ready for any challenge ahead.

A key feature of this exercise was the strengthened collaboration between the RFMF and its critical security and emergency response partners the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO), the Fiji Police Force, the Fiji Corrections Service and the National Fire Authority.

Major-General Kalouniwai stressed that as the lead agencies in crisis response, these institutions play a vital role in maintaining national security and disaster management and the RFMF, as a supporting force, remains committed to enhancing operational synergy with them.

He says with this first inter-agency exercise, they hope to build stronger ties, safeguard our people’s safety and well-being, and ensure they are always ready to respond when duty calls.

He also says this whole-of-government approach is crucial in tackling security challenges and disaster response effectively.

The Commander extended special recognition to the Collective Training Oversight Unit (CTOU) under TRADOC Command for its role in refining training methodologies and institutionalizing best practices within the RFMF.

He says their commitment to professionalizing their training frameworks and ensuring a results-driven approach to force development has been instrumental in their strategic pathway toward 2027.

He adds under TRADOC’s leadership, the Collective Training Oversight Unit has turned strategic intent into tangible operational outcomes.

While speaking on the roles of the RFMF, Major-General Kalouniwai says the successful execution of this exercise reaffirms the RFMF’s constitutional mandate to safeguard Fiji’s national security.

He says in an era of evolving threats, the force remains committed to anticipating, planning, and executing with precision to ensure national stability and resilience.

He further says they are not just an institution that responds to crises; they are a force that prepares, strategizes, and leads with foresight.

The Commander adds the roadmap they forge today strengthens their national defence, enhances regional partnerships, and ensures that the RFMF remains a pillar of strength for our nation.

Major General Kalouniwai reassured all Fijians of the RFMF’s steadfast commitment to excellence, emphasizing that the success of this exercise marks the beginning of the next phase of transformation.

He says this is not the end of their journey; it is the beginning of a stronger, more resilient, and future-ready force.

He stressed the skills honed, the lessons learned, and the partnerships strengthened will form the foundation of their continued success.

The Commander says the TF Brigade Annual Exercise was not just about operational readiness, it was about refining capabilities, enhancing inter-agency cooperation, and strengthening multi-domain operational effectiveness.

He says the RFMF has demonstrated that it is not only a force of strength but also strategic foresight and operational brilliance.

Major-General Kalouniwai says their ability to adapt, innovate, and lead with conviction ensures that the RFMF remains at the forefront of national security.

He adds the future is bright and the path is clear, and together with their partner agencies, they will continue to rise to even greater heights in ensuring the safety and security of our nation.

The closing address concluded with the presentation of certificates to the key National Agencies for their recognition of participation.
