Students of Ratu Latianara High School and Ratu Latianara Primary School in Korovisilou, and Lagalaga Sanatan Primary School in Labasa are grateful to Telecom Fiji for the donation of computers and printers, which will help support education in rural schools after the devastation caused by a flood.

All schools receive two computers and two printers. Telecom Fiji says these contributions aim to bridge the digital divide and provide essential technological resources to students and educators in these communities. The donation was made following a request from the Ministry of Education, which recognized the urgent need for technological resources to assist in the schools' recovery efforts.

Telecom Fiji CEO Charles Goundar says they believe in the power of education and the role technology plays in enhancing learning environments. Goundar says their donation is a step towards ensuring that students and educators at schools have the resources they need to overcome these challenges and continue their educational journey without disruption.

Additionally, Telecom Fiji has extended its support to Lagalaga Sanatan Primary School, a rural institution 55 kilometres from Labasa Town.

The donation of computers will provide students with essential access to technology, enabling them to develop critical digital skills.

Head Teacher of Lagalaga Sanatan Primary School, Ajay Prasad, expressed his gratitude and said the introduction of computers to their school will significantly enhance their students' educational experience, allowing them to develop essential digital skills that are critical in today's world.

Korovisilou was the first rural community in Fiji to be connected to Telecom's reliable and ultra-fast Fibre Internet service, benefiting essential services like the Korovisilou Health Centre and Ratu Latianara College.

Permanent Secretary for Education Selina Kuruleca says they are incredibly grateful for Telecom Fiji's generous support and their dedication to schools' recovery.

She says these computers and printers will play a crucial role in the administration of the schools, ensuring smooth operations and effective management.
