The Fiji Cancer Society is calling on women to visit the closest health centre if they feel any irregularities in their breast, to prevent any unforeseen problems and issues in the future.

While making a presentation at the International Rural Women's Day celebration in Sawani Village, Naitasiri, Nurse Manager at the Fiji Cancer Society Karolina Tamani says their main message to everyone is that early detection can save lives.

She says in her line of work, she has seen men leaving their sick wives because they are not satisfied sexually.

Tamani says sometimes they have to split up families because of the continuous abuse from men who should be the main pillar of support in a family.

She is calling on men, fathers and brothers to support their wives, sisters and friends that are undergoing some challenging times because of cancer, as it will lift their spirits to overcome their problems.

She is also calling on women who are diagnosed with cervical or breast cancer, not to give up because their role is to support and watch their children grow up.

Tamani says the Fiji Cancer Society is a non-government funded organisation that supports any person that is undergoing challenges because of their sickness.
