Tabuya deliver kits, hand sanitiser and first aid kits to Dilkusha Home

The Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Lynda Tabuya, handed over dignity kits, hand sanitiser and first aid kits to the Dilkusha Home during her visit to the Home.

She was accompanied by Assistant Minister Sashi Kiran, the Acting Director of Social Welfare and the Executive Support Unit Officer.

Tabuya says they are very excited to be there and to be part of their family.

She says all the children at the Home is a child of God, and she was so blessed to see their beautiful smiles, and she can witness that they are all being treated well by the staff.

She also highlighted that the Government will ensure that all children enjoy their rights and freedom.

The Minister says the right to be protected from abuse, exploitation and intimidation and to live in an environment that is free of abuse and offers them safety.

Tabuya adds it was a pleasure for her to visit the Home and also thanked the management and staff of the Home for working together with diligence, respect, love and compassion for the children.

The Minister also conveyed Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka's best wishes to the staff and the children at the Dilkusha Home

Meanwhile, Sashi Kiran also thanked the Methodist Church of Fiji for the work and services provided to the children at the Home.

Kiran commended the staff for looking after the children’s well-being and for treating them as their children.

She also assured them that they will have the Government’s support.

Dilkusha Home Superintendent Deaconess Sereima Ukumoce Vosanibola delivered the welcoming address for Tabuya and her team for the kindness and compassion shown by the Ministry.

Vosanibola says the visit by the Minister will inspire the children to become great leaders.

She briefed Tabuya and Kiran on the history of the Dilkusha Children’s Home.

She says some of the children who were brought to the Home were victims of physical and emotional abuse who subsequently reported to the Home and orphans.
