As a video of students fighting with other youth not in school uniform has gone viral on social media, Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection Lynda Tabuya, is calling on school children and youth to refrain from such public acts of violence and violent attacks of such nature as it is a criminal act and it must end.

Tabuya says student brawls in public places have become a common occurrence over the recent years and as the Minister for Children she is calling on all citizens to be alert and let us look out for the safety of our youth and children, especially in public spaces.

She says they need to bring an end to student brawls by refraining from sharing it on social media accounts as when they are circulating such videos, this can encourage such acts of violence.

Tabuya is advising parents and guardians take the time to counsel and guide their children in the values of respect, kindness and goodness and prepare a wholesome program for them as they spend their school holidays at home.

She says family time is important for our children, because to a child, love is spelt T-I-M-E.

She adds as we approach the end of another school term and the 2nd term school holidays, let us make a choice together to transform our society into one where every child can grow to their full potential, safely.
