The Suva Combine Masters Soccer Club has assisted more than 100 families who have been facing serious difficulties during these challenging times.

President Dinesh Raj says they assisted about 25 families seriously impacted by COVID-19 in June from the club’s savings and their efforts were recognized in New Zealand.

He revealed that two of the families they assisted were homeless.

Raj says they are helping families that have not been provided any assistance where no members are working or have only one breadwinner in an extended family.

He adds helping these families would not have been possible without the assistance provided by Jasmeen Mohammed and Friends of Fiji Health New Zealand.

He says in July they were contacted by Mohammed from New Zealand who provided funds to assist 13 families who are currently assisted fortnightly with $100 shopping vouchers for eight weeks.

He says however, they will shift their focus to other families who need assistance if any members of the assisted families get a job and can cater for themselves.

He adds Mohammed also provided them with essential items for babies such as diapers and milk.

Raj says the Friends of Fiji Health New Zealand also provided the club with 50 food packs which they provided to 50 families.
