Permanent Secretary for Education, Dr. Anjeela Jokhan.

Students will be given a fair chance in the exams and will be provided counseling support in schools.

This has been highlighted by the Permanent Secretary for Education, Dr. Anjeela Jokhan following confirmation by Lifeline Fiji’s Team Leader, Jeremaia Merekula that they have been receiving calls from students who are back at school and are going through exam anxiety.

She says there are ways in which they can make sure that students would not be unduly penalized.

Dr. Jokhan adds students will be given a fair chance and they do not want students to feel that if they do not do right, something will happen.

Dr. Jokhan says over the last few weeks, they have provided basic counseling training to more than 2000 secondary school heads, primary school heads and child protection officers.

She adds schools now have a number of people who can look after the welfare of the students within the school and there is professional help with those trained counselors as well.

Only the Year 12 and 13 students from this year will sit for the external exams in February next year.
