Students of St Teresa School in Sigatoka have been told to let the Ministry of Education know if they need any sort of assistance.

While receiving 10 computer sets donated to the school by the Korean Government, Minister for Education Premila Kumar says she wants to know if students need assistance in the form of uniform, bags or even stationery.

Kumar says students can come up with their list and the Ministry can help them.

She says from their perspective they are doing everything to uplift the school and the responsibility is now with parents and students.

Kumar also says she has been receiving reports of students misbehaving in schools and adds it is very disappointing to see students engaging in activities they are not supposed to do.

The Minister says there are children caught with drugs and suicide notes while some are involved in brawls.

She says even young children are caught stealing.

Kumar says this is not only a concern for the parents and teachers but for the society as a whole.

She says there is something not right and we need to fix that.

Kumar says one way we can fix this is through education and they have implemented the civic and moral curriculum this year, specifically to change student behavior.

She adds this subject will not be tested or graded.
