Taking care of the staff's welfare and serving the people of Fiji will be our priority, regardless of their race, colour or religion.

This was highlighted by the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Lynda Tabuya during their office visitation with Assistant Minister Sashi Kiran yesterday.

Tabuya and Kiran were accompanied by Permanent Secretary Ashwin Raj, Acting Director Social Welfare Dilitiana Baleinabuli and the Executive Support Unit.

The staff were also told by Tabuya that there are a lot of vacancies that need to be filled in the Ministry, which will need to be discussed and endorsed by the Cabinet and the Prime Minister.

She says they will look into all acting positions within the Ministry and will attend to these as soon as possible.

The leaders also visited the Poverty Monitoring Unit, Corporate Unit, Child Services Unit, Department of Women Headquarters, Social Welfare Office Headquarters, and Fiji Juvenile Rehabilitation and Development Centre in Suva and commended the works being carried out by the staff at these centres.

The leaders thanked the staff of the Ministry for playing an instrumental role in achieving the Ministry's goals and serving the vulnerable in society.

Tabuya adds the Ministry staff have been doing the work and these new government initiatives will ensure efficiency in terms of service delivery for the people of Fiji. Tabuya also reminded the staff that in service delivery and during difficult times, the staff and the co-workers are needed as pillars of support.

She says, having a strong network and a supportive family also helps enhance your work and efficient service delivery.

She also thanked the families of the staff for their continuous support throughout the year.
