Sports is an important driver of the economy that brings in investment, and a lot of economic activity which generates jobs and income for people.

These were the words of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad while officiating at the opening of the 2024 Digicel Fiji FACT tournament at Subrail Park in Labasa.

Professor Prasad says sports has always been a driver of our international standing as a country and the government values all sporting activities in the country.

He says sports particularly football are more than just games as it brings people together, unite people and give a sense of celebration and participation.

Noting all the very important international and regional sporting activities that Fiji participates in, Professor Prasad praised and congratulated the Rewa Football team for their participation in the Oceania Football Championship in Tahiti.
