The Spinal and Injury Association of Fiji will continue to fight and advocate for accessibility on the roads, transportation and making Suva barrier-free for people with disabilities.

Board Member and Association representative, Nafitalai Uluinikorotabu says there might be thousands of consignments being donated to Fiji, but access is needed in terms of the well-being of all the people living with disabilities.

He says Fiji has seen significant improvement in terms of support and donations for people with disabilities, but progress can only be measured by the accessibility to public spaces and services.

He adds the Association has been actively involved in consultations with various stakeholders, including government authorities and transportation officials to create a comprehensive plan that addresses the challenges faced by people living with disabilities.

Uluinikorotabu urges people living with disabilities not to give up on life because their disabilities are not the end of their journey in this world.

fijivillage News has sent questions to the Minister for Social Protection, Lynda Tabuya, but she has yet to respond.
