Some primary and secondary students continue to be seen in school uniform or sports gear after school hours, roaming around in the Suva Bus Stand and the foreshore areas as late as 8pm.

There have also been incidents where some students have been seen sniffing glue and taking drugs in parts of Suva.

When asked by Legend FM News, Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro says their officers ask the students to quickly make their way home if they don't have a reason to be in town.

Naisoro says Police request anyone who witnesses these incidents to call them and report such matters.

She adds Police conduct visitations to schools and speak to students about these issues and the need to head straight home after school.

Police say this is reinforced by teachers who go the extra mile and accompany students to major towns and cities ensuring students get home as quickly as possible.

Naisoro says this responsibility however should also be shared and reiterated by parents and guardians at home for students not to engage in any form of illegal activity.

Concerns have also been raised on what is happening to students using the blue subsidy cards who are finishing late due to sports training sessions. The cards can only be used until 5.30pm.

We have sent questions to the Ministry of Education. They are yet to respond.
