Suva Grammar School has now placed itself as of one of the favourites to win the Coca-Cola Games next month after dominating the Suva Zone II competition at the ANZ Stadium.

They created history by becoming the first school to win both divisions in the Suva Zone II and also win the Blue Ribbon events.

Suva Grammar School won the Boys Division with 23 gold, 25 silver and 11 bronze medals.

Marist Brothers High School finished in second place with 20 gold, 19 silver and 24 bronze while Lomary Secondary School finished in third place with 3 gold and 7 bronze.

In the Girls Division, Suva Grammar School collected 23 gold, 14 silver and 15 bronze to finish in first place.

Saint Joseph’s Secondary School settled for second place with 21 gold, 21 silver and 10 bronze while Lomary Secondary School was in third place with 6 gold, 3 silver and 7 bronze.

Suva Grammar School's Tevita Sokiveta who won the Senior Boys 100 metres at the Suva Zone II has dedicated his win to all those living with Rheumatic Heart Disease in the country.

Sokiveta finished with a manual time of 11.14 seconds to beat Lasarusa Senibale of Marist Brothers High School who finished second with a manual time of 11.36 seconds.

Digitaki Marau of Marist finished in third place.

Sokiveta says for the past few years he has been winning gold in the Tailevu Zone.

He says he decided to join Suva Grammar School from Ratu Kadavulevu School this year.

Sokiveta who is a Rheumatic Heart Disease patient says he wanted to win to send a message to all those with Rheumatic Heart Disease that nothing is impossible.

Rheumatic Heart Disease is a significant health problem in Fiji, and approximately one child in every classroom is living with Rheumatic Heart Disease in the country.

At least 60 deaths a year are attributed to Rheumatic Heart Disease in Fiji.

Salote Baravilala of Suva Grammar School says she is aiming to win gold in the Senior Girls 100 metres at the Coca-Cola Games to end her final year in high school on a high note.

Baravilala cruised through to win the Senior Girls 100 metres at the Suva Zone 2 this afternoon.

She says moving from Jasper Williams High School to Suva Grammar School was not easy.

Baravilala set a new record in the Senior Girls 100 and 200 metres.

She ran a record time of 12.31 seconds in the Senior Girls 100 metres.

The Coca-Cola Games will be held from 16th to 18th April.
