Australian Minister for International Development and the Pacific, Senator Zed Seselja says there is no doubt there will be many Australians on the first tourist flight as Australians can’t wait to get back to Fiji.

He made these comments while announcing Australia’s partnership with Tourism Fiji to support the safe resumption of international tourism in Fiji.

Through training and quality assurance services delivered by Australian health services provider Aspen Medical, the Australian Government and Tourism Fiji are helping tourism businesses in Fiji to gain accreditation under the Care Fiji Commitment program.

Seselja also emphasised Australia’s commitment to supporting Fiji’s broader tourism sector’s recovery.

He says Fiji’s tourism businesses have been hit hard by COVID-19 and this project will help Fijian resorts and tour providers to be ready to safely receive tourists once international travel to Fiji re-commences on 1st December.

Seselja adds tourism businesses have told him that they are committed to implementing world-class protocols to ensure international tourists can safely return to Fiji.

He says Australia is pleased to support Fiji’s tourism sector to prepare to once again welcome visitors with Fiji’s famous hospitality.

CEO of Tourism Fiji Brent Hill has welcomed Australia’s support for the program and says the Care Fiji Commitment program will be critical to ensuring travel confidence throughout arrival, border control, testing and holiday experiences.

Hill highlighted that since its launch, the program has received a strong and positive uptake from tourist providers, demonstrating the industry’s commitment to welcoming back visitors, with health and safety as key priorities.
