Minister for Rural and Maritime Development Inia Seruiratu has advised the District Advisory Councillors serving in the Tailevu Province that when they want to take up responsibilities, they should do it with fairness.
Speaking to District Advisory Councillors in Nausori, Seruiratu says this is because a lot of people take sides, according to religion or politics but their responsibility is about serving the communities irrespective of anything else.
The Minister reminded them that they needed to be aware of Government’s development programmes and the need for them to encourage their community members to invest in their homes to ensure their safety and protection from future disasters.
Issues relating to drainage, roads, and agriculture were mainly discussed during the meeting.
Seruiratu had also assured the members that Government is committed to ensuring access for all Fijians to basic needs and services.
The Minister also met with District Advisory Councillors members serving in communities within the province of Rewa.
