Leader of the Opposition, Inia Seruiratu

There is so much we can learn from each other when we approach our differences with respect and an open heart.

This has been highlighted by Leader of the Opposition, Inia Seruiratu as we celebrate Easter.

He says Easter is a special time—a time of hope, renewal, and reflecting on the powerful story of resurrection and God's immense love for us all.

Seruiratu says the heart of the Easter message truly resonates with the call to "love your neighbor as yourself."

He says in a nation as diverse and vibrant as Fiji, this teaching isn't just a guiding principle; it's the very foundation upon which we must build our shared future.

The Opposition Leader says it calls us to look out for one another, to practice empathy, and to show genuine care, regardless of our different backgrounds or beliefs.

He further says it feels significant that we celebrate Easter shortly after our Muslim and Hindu brothers and sisters observed Eid al-Fitr and Ram Navami.

Seruiratu says these celebrations are filled with devotion, community spirit, and, importantly, tolerance.

He says they serve as a beautiful reminder that the values of compassion, understanding, and living peacefully together are threads that connect all our communities.

Seruiratu says Jesus Christ, whose resurrection we celebrate, showed us what this love looks like in action.

He says He reached out with compassion and understanding to everyone, especially those on the margins.

The Leader of Opposition says Jesus’ life was a testament to forgiveness, acceptance, and unconditional love.

Seruiratu says Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice on the cross, born out of that profound love for humanity, offers us hope and redemption.

He says it's a powerful call to action for each of us: to live our lives reflecting that same spirit of kindness, forgiveness, and tolerance towards our neighbors, in our communities, and across Fiji.

Seruiratu is calling on everyone this Easter to take time to reflect and rejuvenate.

He adds that the spirit of hope and the powerful message of love should inspire us to strengthen the bonds that unite us as Fijians.
