Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem has today told the participants of the Presiding Officers Training in Lautoka that the time for experiments is over and the procedures in front of them are the procedures for the 2022 General Elections.

While speaking at the launch, Saneem says the procedures they have developed are the ones they will apply at the polling stations.

He says the hallmarks of the 2014 and 2018 elections have been the consistency with which the polling officials handled voters at their venues.

Saneem has also urged the participants that they must be apolitical.

Saneem highlighted that in 2018 they replaced the staff from an entire polling station simply because in the morning of the elections, there was a social media post by them which they regarded as not apolitical and they will do that again.

He has also urged the participants to avoid the hassle of being asked to leave the polling stations and simply follow the procedures and code of conduct.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Mukesh Nand says this training is an essential component to prepare them to manage all the task they will undertake and all tasks are important.

Nand has told the participants that they will act as ambassadors for the Elections Office and they have been selected for a reason. He has also encouraged them not to be easily influenced by outside sources such as social media and fake news.
