The Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital Fiji has been accredited with the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) STAR™ and has verified that the hospital implements best practices to prepare for, respond to, and recover from outbreaks and pandemics.

This is the first time ever that a hospital in Fiji has been granted such a prestigious international accreditation.

As the cleaning industry’s only outbreak prevention, response, and recovery accreditation, GBAC STAR™ helps organisations establish protocols and procedures, offers expert-led training, and assesses a facility’s readiness for biological risk situations.

Sai Sanjeevani says GBAC Senior Director Doctor. Gavin Macgregor–Skinner along with RJ Patel and Gosia Baran traveled to Fiji from the United States to conduct “Cleaning for Health” workshops for infection prevention and facilitated the on-site hospital assessment at the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital.

They say the GBAC STAR™ accreditation empowers facility owners and managers to assure workers, customers, and key stakeholders that they have proven systems in place to maintain clean and healthy environments.

Dr. Macgregor–Skinner says by taking this important step to pursue GBAC STAR™, the Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital Fiji has received third-party validation by implementing best practices and evidence-based protocols for cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention, thereby demonstrating its preparedness and commitment to operating safely.

Hospital Director Doctor. Krupali Tappoo was thrilled to receive the news of the accreditation and outlined the compliance procedures which the hospital had to implement and adhere to.

She says they are truly humbled to have received this global accreditation from the Global Biorisk Advisory Council and the hospital has successfully demonstrated compliance with the program’s elements, which range from standard operating procedures and risk assessment strategies to personal protective equipment, emergency preparedness, and response measures.

The Global Biorisk Advisory Council™ (GBAC), a Division of ISSA, helps organizations demonstrate their commitment to protecting the health and well-being of their customers and employees safely, responsibly, and sustainably.

GBAC provides the training, education, consulting, accreditation, and certification services needed to help shape a healthier and safer world for everyone, and everywhere.
