A safer future for the current and future students of Nasau District School, located in Wainibuka, as the Government has stepped in to assist the school by funding and building a new walkway and bridge that will allow the students to safely cross every day.

While officiating at the launch, the Minister for Rural Development, Sakiasi Ditoka says with the new walkway and bridge, students will no longer have to navigate dangerous routes, particularly during bad weather conditions.

He says this initiative marks a significant step towards providing a secure learning environment for the students, who have long faced the challenge of crossing difficult terrain and unreliable infrastructure.

He also emphasized that the new infrastructure would not only ensure the safety of the students but also provide peace of mind to parents and teachers, who had previously worried about the risks posed by bad weather.

Minister Ditoka says they aim to make sure the students are safe while travelling to and from school, regardless of the season.

The Minister also expressed gratitude to the school’s leadership and local communities for their cooperation in bringing the project to fruition. This initiative is a clear example of how targeted Government action can make a tangible difference in the lives of students and their families in rural areas.

With the bridge and walkway in place, the future looks brighter for the school’s learners, making this a significant milestone for the community of Wainibuka.

Meanwhile, the project is part of the Government’s broader commitment to improving the lives of rural communities and enhancing access to education.
