Sacrificing some of the things that she loves to do has finally paid off for 18-year-old Marama Domitila, who won her second gold medal for Saint Joseph’s Secondary School in the Coca-Cola Suva Zone 2 competition today.

Domitila claimed gold in the Senior Girls’ 1500 metres and 800 metres.

While speaking to fijivillage News, the Year 13 student from Ra shared how it was hard at first when she had to make some sacrifices, but she managed to adapt.

Domitila says the training was not easy as well, but she knew there would be light at the end of every tunnel.

She says she is blessed to win those gold medals for her school and hopes to do the same at this year’s Coca-Cola Games.

The science student dedicated her win to her parents as they were always supportive of her sports career and also to her coach for always motivating her.

She also revealed that she plays soccer and basketball apart from athletics.

Meanwhile, Marist Brothers High School currently lead the boys’ division with 20 gold, 16 silver and 17 bronze, Suva Grammar is second with 9 gold, 8 silver and 7 bronze, while Jai Narayan College is third with 2 gold and 2 bronze.

In the girls’ division, Suva Grammar is leading with 15 gold, 12 silver and 9 bronze, St Joseph’s Secondary School is second with 10 gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze, while Nuku Secondary School is third with 2 gold and 2 silver.

The Suva Zone 2 competition is currently underway at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
