NFP Leader and Deputy Prime Minister Professor Biman Prasad has urged the people to stop spreading misinformation that certain ethnic groups, especially Indo-Fijians, are being discriminated against under the Coalition Government.

While stressing this point at the NFP’s Working Committee meeting in Lovu, Lautoka, Professor Prasad says the Government increased the budget for the iTaukei Affairs Ministry this year because, for previous years, they were neglected with a small amount of budget.

He urges the people to move out of this misinformation, mischief, and rumour that certain groups, certain ethnic groups are being discriminated against under this Government.

He says it is false and a lie that is propagated.

Professor Prasad says this misinformation is coming from the very people who have used race as a card for so many years - the mischief, the lies they are spreading, and there are still lies.

He adds it is critical for people to understand better how the Government works and sets policies to benefit every citizen of this country.

The Minister for Finance assured the party members and the whole country that the Coalition Government under the leadership of the Prime Minister, will stand strong, steady and clear about where they want to take this country.

He says there will be missteps, mistakes, and the Prime Minister is always the first one to acknowledge that.

Professor Prasad says they do express their views very strongly when it is necessary because the Government can only function if they govern with that process, particularly on matters of national interest and matters that the party holds dear.
