Rugby league fans can expect a thriller this Saturday when the Vodafone Fiji Bati take on the PNG Kumuls in the first match of the Pacific Rugby League Bowl Championship.

The participating teams were accorded a welcoming ceremony at the Grand Pacific Hotel, with the Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, welcoming the team.

In his welcoming address, Saukuru says this event marks a significant moment for our Pacific Rugby League community, where we will witness great against great as the very best of the men and women from our island nations compete for glory and pride.

He says the Championship is a remarkable event that brings together our Pacific islands in the spirit of competition and camaraderie.

The Minister says the Championship is also another opportunity to showcase the talent and passion of our athletes and to inspire the next generation of our rugby league players.

He adds our teams have trained hard and are ready to give their best on the field, and this event is a celebration of their hard work, determination and the support of families and communities.

Saukuru says it is also a chance for us to strengthen the bonds between our nations and to promote the values of sportsmanship and fair play.

The Fiji Bati will host the Kumuls at 8.10pm on Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium.
