An urgent call for assistance is being made to help those who have been severely affected by Monster Tropical Cyclone Yasa.

The Rotary Club of Peninsula Sunset has started a disaster relief initiative to help the victims of Cyclone Yasa in the Northern Division.

Community Service Director Prashant Anuraag says the initiative started after seeing the video footage of the destruction that was done by Yasa in the North.

93,000 Fijians were in the direct path of the cyclone.

Anuraag says when he saw the video clip he decided to start an initiative to assist the families who have been badly affected by the cyclone.

He says they are aiming to collect the items by Wednesday and hope to deliver it to the North on Friday.

Anuraag says they are thankful that one of their Rotarian members who is with CDP Courier Services will be shipping the items to Labasa in the next couple of days.

People can donate towards this worthy cause by dropping the items they would like to donate to their office at 50 Siga Road Laucala Beach Estate opposite International School Suva or contact Prashant Anuraag on 9968658/7968658.
