FNU Vice-Chancellor Professor Toby Wilkinson says their Incident Response Team is reviewing whether restrictions at Natabua campus can be lifted or need to be extended.

This is after a cluster of positive COVID-19 cases emerged at the FNU Natabua campus at the end of last week.

Professor Wilkinson says to mitigate the risk of further infection and in line with the university's incident management policy, FNU took swift and decisive action to contain the situation.

He says all movement in and out of the FNU Natabua campus is restricted and access is only provided to frontline and emergency workers.

Professor Wilkinson adds in the meantime, they are providing food, rations and essential supplies to students and staff that are residents at the Natabua campus.

There were 11 new COVID-19 deaths from August 13th to 18th and 485 new COVID cases.

All 11 deaths are from the Western Division.
